Conquer Your Fears
“Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
How many people don’t discover all of what God has for them because of fear? We let fear hold us back, stopping us dead in our tracks, paralyzing us from moving forward.
It could be fear of people, failure, being uncomfortable, trying something new, fear of what the world will say or think about you. There are SO many things that can cause fear. But, perfect love casts out all fear. When we abide in Jesus or “remain in His love” (John 15:9), even when fear strikes us, Christ within us gives us the courage to move forward. There will be times when fear hits you in ways you can’t even imagine. That fear will overwhelm you with anxiety and stress. But in those moments, we must have our eyes fixed on the purpose that God gave us.
Just look at Jesus in Luke 22:44; “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.”
Before Jesus surrendered Himself to the cross, He was “FULL of anguish” and was sweating drops of blood. He knew where the Father was leading Him, and I can’t even fathom the amount of anxiety and fear He must have had knowing that path. But Jesus KNEW His mission. He knew why He was sent to earth; to redeem humanity back to the Father and to tear the veil between sinners and a holy God. His purpose and mission was greater than His fears, and that’s what pushed Him into the destiny laid out before Him.
How well do you know your purpose?
Do you know without a shadow of a doubt WHY you were created? If that purpose isn’t resounding in your soul, if it’s not getting you up out of bed every morning, then when fear strikes (cause it probably will) you will be shaken and possibly knocked down for good.
When we build our life upon Jesus, The Rock, the firm foundation of love, when anything tries to knock us down, we may be down for a moment, but God WILL be faithful to pull you back up. His word promises:
"Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken." Psalm 55:22
God is faithful. He is there to guide and protect His children. Just like a loving Father who will help his kids move forward in life, God teaches us and helps us to overcome our fears and the obstacles that seem impossible to overcome
“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”
When we know who we belong to, when we KNOW who our Daddy is, fear will not be able to hold us down. It doesn’t matter if you’re persecuted, if you suffer, what people say about you or think- when you are a child of God and are being LED by His Spirit daily, fear will strike, but it won’t stay. God’s children are empowered by His Spirit. Being a Christian isn’t about going to church on Sunday and being a “good person”, it’s about walking WITH Jesus, being led and guided by His Spirit within us EVERY SINGLE DAY.
As you abide in Jesus, as you remain in His love, you will be led into the plans God has in store for you. And nothing, not even fear will be able to hold you back.
