Ask, Seek, Knock- Oct. 5
Yesterday we talked about Gods love. I shared I couple different scriptures in reference to His love. One of the scriptures is stated below:
“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
I love how Paul (The author of the book of Ephesians) is praying, “may you know the love that surpasses knowledge.” Kind of ironic if you ask me? How can you KNOW a love that knowledge can’t contain? But I think we need to look at this a little deeper:
- The Greek word that is translated as “know” in the above verse is also translated as: be aware (of), feel, and be sure in other verses in the King James Version of the bible.
In my opinion, when reading this verse we can’t just stop at “knowing” God’s love. We need to look at it deeper. So while Paul is praying we would have a knowledge of God’s love, I think he is also praying that we would be AWARE of God’s love, that we would FEEL Gods love, and that we can be SURE of God’s love. Essentially, a full ENCOUNTER of God’s love.
This right here, is a game changer.
When we know, feel, and are aware of the love of Christ personally, we will surrender everything to follow Him.
This is what we need: we need an encounter with the love of God that will grab a hold of our hearts in such a way, that no matter what comes our way, our eyes are fixed on Jesus. This brings me back to yesterday’s take-away: “that no matter if God says no to some prayers, yes to others, no matter if we can’t see the future and where He is leading us, because of His great love for us, we will WANT to follow Him no matter the cost.”
Can you honestly tell yourself you have encountered Gods love? Some of you may be wondering how this can even happen. Well, it comes with pursuit. When we pursue Jesus with everything we are, when we ask, beg, crave, and desire to know Him, we will find Him and His amazing love.
