Ask, Seek, Knock- Oct. 3

We can easily get upset  with God when He says yes to some of our prayers and no to others. Yesterday we talked about Gods character. The main take away was this:

“We can trust God because He has a character that is worth trusting.”

As we ask, seek, and knock, we might not always be happy with the answers God gives us. Believe it or not, God may not say “yes” to everything you are asking of Him right now. But do you know what? That’s OKAY.

Wait, what? Why is it OK that God says “no” to some of our prayers?

Let’s go back to His CHARACTER- He is a good Father who has a perfect character, and He knows what is best for us!

Check out some of these verses below:

“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”
Psalm 84:11
“He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, freely give us all things?”
Romans 8:32

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.”
James 1:17

God is the giver of all good things. He knows what’s best for you. There have been many times where God has said “no” to some of my prayers, and years down the road, I have thank Him for not saying “yes”. Why? Because as I kept following Jesus, I discovered HIS plan and will was perfect the whole time- I just wasn’t trusting that to be the case.

You might be in a season right now where you are struggling with trusting Gods plan for your life. As I sit here writing this devotional, I myself realize that I am struggling with some things in my life right now. But day after day, we must keep our eyes fixed on God and what He wants to accomplish in us TODAY. We can’t have our mind so fixed on the future and our unanswered prayers that we forget that we have a God who wants to be sought out today for who He is, not just for what He can do.
