Hope For Our Soul
If I were to pick a favorite word it would be hope. As I think about hope, somethings stirs within my heart.
Everyone needs hope. Especially in our world today. Every time the news is turned on, it will give you a reason why hope is so necessary to have.
My question is- what do YOU have your hope in?
No one is guaranteed an easy life, and no one is guaranteed tomorrow. Tragedy can hit anyone at any time, anyone can lose their possessions or money, anyone can lose their job in a heartbeat, anyone can lose a loved one. If this is the case, what can we put our hope in?
I’m not trying to be discouraging, but I AM trying to be realistic. This is life, and no one is guaranteed a pass through without any trouble.
As for me, my hope rests in this:
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.” Hebrews 6:19, 20
Our hope can only rest in Jesus. When I sit back and think about what Jesus Christ did for me, I am overwhelmed with hope. Before Jesus Christ came, we were hopeless and lost in our sin. When Jesus came to earth, died on a cross for our sins, and was resurrected from the dead, He defeated hopelessness once and for all. Our hope is this: that we can be reconciled to God the Father through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
“Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.
The Gospel is hope for mankind.
God is holy and righteous in all He does. And for us, we are infested by sin and have been from the very beginning. Our pride separated us from God. But because of Gods great, immense love for us, He sacrificed His ONLY Son so we could be welcomed back to God, forgiven of every wrong thing we have done and will do.
Being reconciled back to God is an undeserved gift. When I think about how MY sin nailed Jesus to a cross, but yet He welcomes me with open arms, there are no words to describe that kind of feeling. Jesus made a way for us to enter into Gods presence, and His presence is love.
This is my hope that is steadfast and secure. No matter what comes my way in my lifetime, I have nothing to fear because:
A. This world is not my home. Even if I lose everything, I still have hope because I know when I die, my home will be with my Savoir for all eternity- in a place where there is no more pain or suffering.
B. God’s presence gives LIFE. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we now have access to Gods presence all the time. His presence gives peace, joy, love, and a calmness that is not found in this world. God’s presence grants us a peace that surpasses ALL understand and it defies all negativity.
What else could you HOPE for?
Jesus paid it all for us to give us an abundant life (John 10:10). Eternal life and a fulfilled life is ours if we want it, we just need to accept the FREE gift of grace- only made possible by Jesus’ sacrifice for us. What Jesus Christ has done for the world is exactly what we’re all searching for.
If you are in need of a hope that you can anchor your very life on, look to Jesus. He can give that to you if you give your life to Him!
